Aviation Gas is now at $5.15/gallon.

Regional airports are not having airshows because EAA is not covering them with insurance any longer.

AOPA Safety Seminar
The Wigleys, Mike Atwell, and the Bundys attended an AOPA Safety Seminar in Huntsville. These free safety seminars are part of the AOPA's Accident Forgiveness and Deductible Waiver Program and the FAA Wings Program and are well worth the drive to attend.

The Air Safety Foundation website has also recently added a number podcasts and interactive safety reviews. This is a great resource for keeping yourself current on all things pilot oriented, see www.asf.org.

Communications at a Towered Airport
Guy presented a safety review of operations at a towered airport at the March meeting. You can see notes from Guy's last presentation by clicking Safety Review link on the left.

Guy York reminded us that TFRs can become rather common and unpredictable during election years. Be certain you make checking the TFRs a regular part of your preflight briefing.

Funding Debate Bullet Items

User Fees Debate On going
Just when we thought we might have been able to put the user fee debate behind us, the Bush Administration has brought it back in its original ill-concieved form in their 2009 Budget Proposal.

Congress must address this issue by June 30th in order to maintain operation of the FAA. Please take the time to contact your Congressional delegation about this issue. Tell them you support HR2881 as it was passed (i.e., no user fees). To see an issue overview, visit http://www.aopa.org/faafundingdebate

It is important that we make our voices heard on this issue. Here is contact information for our local congressional delegation >>
