In Memory of Harley

We have been saddened to learn of the loss of a wonderful friend and pilot. Harley McGatha passed away Sunday morning, April 5th, 2009. Harley was a great supporter of the Young Eagles program and introduced many young people to aviation. He was quick with a smile and full of energy and laughter. His positive spirit and can do attitude will be missed by all who met him.

A memorial fund has been established in Harley's name to support the Young Eagles program. Dr. John Isbell will be accepting the donations, or donations can be dropped off at the airport. The Rome EAA chapter 709 has also established a memorial fun in Harley's name.

Thank you from Alecia

The family of Harley McGatha would like to thank all of our EAA Chapter 890 friends for their kind expression of sympathy for us during this difficult time. Harley was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. This desire to experience all that life had to offer, along with his great love and general aviation allowed him to make lifelong friendships all over the world. A friend said it best when he noted "that the only thing Harley enjoyed more than flying, was sharing his love for flying with others" and he would want that to continue. He would take great pride to know that the memorial fund contributions will be used to share the experience of flying. Words cannot express our gratitude for the show of love and respect for Harley.

Thank you, Alecia McGatha
